• Hi!
I´m quite impressed and satisfied with the xili language plugin, but have a (hopefully) minor problem: At this point I have followed xili instructions and have made a norwegian and (at least started on an) english menu, and they both appear at the right place ion my webpage. The only problem is that when I switch to english, the “original” norwegian menu is still there… I can see from xilis example page that in my theme, twenty fourteen, it is possible to completely hide/replace the menu in the language you are switcing from.

    How do I do that?

    This is my webpage: http://www.turrenn.net

Thanx in advance for any help!

    Steffen.

    Hi!
xili-language plugin offers multiple ways to create multilingual navigation menus (template tags, widget, navigation menu and more..) according theme architecture.
One of the most recent post is here : http://2014.extend.xiligroup.org/en/865/how-to-a-multilingual-navigation-menu/

On this website, you will find other good articles and a link to download a xili child theme of twenty fourteen with improvement for multilingual context…
    Good works

Thanx a lot for the reply. But that´s exactly the page I used to get as far as I did. But I couldn´t quite rap it up. By far because I´m not exactly a technical wizard. I just don´t understand the technical terms that surely would´ve made me able to complete the process.

I can´t find anything in that article that specifically will do the job to remove the norwegian original menu when switching to english?

    S

First make a Norwegian menu, than make an English menu.
Thank finally make a completely new MAIN menu.
There are only 2 fields there: Menu Selection (add after choosing which menu is for which language) than add Language List.

Than go to Manage Locations and set as the your navigation the MAIN navigation (with the 2) as your primary menu.

    Good luck 🙂

WOW! Great, it worked! Thanks a lot, Superb!

But still there is one issue left, the secondary menu to the left should preferably change language as well as the top menu and posts when I switch between norwegian and english. Example: The heading “Siste innlegg” (on the secondayr left menu) should change to “last posts”.

Would you have any tips for that too?

I would so highly appreciate it!

Don´t want to be pushy, but I´ll try one more time: anyone know how to make the widgets on the left side menu (at http://www.turrenn.net) to change language when the top menu changes (from norwegian to english and vice versa)?

Because the subject has changed and was resolved one week ago, it will be better to open a new forum topic.
In the case of widgets, some features can be coded in theme to create a widgets space for each language (see bundled theme xili https://github.com/dev-xiligroup/twentyfourteen-xili)

but if only text (title and some contents), perhaps only use the get text approach (.mo) built by xili-dictionary.

Use also support form in 6th tab of xili-language settings
