Remove publish button from ‘Author’ users?

hello, I have searched around the forums and plugins with no joy yet so here goes…

I am using wordpress to create a collective website that will allow anyone who registers to write a post with pictures in it but only to save it as a draft. As admin I want to be the only user who can publish posts (reason being that I want to proof read content and photos). Can I remove the publish button from their write post section? If I move them down to a contributor they can’t upload any pictures. Any help or direction much appreciated.

one last quick question, any ideas on how to get the login panel to appear in a page?
