remove sidebar or static page

    Here is my website: juliabellephotos.com

    Genesis theme, I know the home page is a static page. I would like to add the slider to my portfolio pages. Right now I have those pages as custom links so they are going to category pages. IE http://www.juliabellephotos.com/portfolio_category/family

    I installed a plugin to disable the sidebar but when I add a WP page the default text displays and the slider is small.

    Ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
