I have been reading through the forums and checking Google but I can’t figure out how to remove the Widgets with Search, Links and Calender. I went into widgets and it shows that there are none in Sidebar 1 and Sidebar 2. At some point in time, I will probably want to put ads or Widgets but for now I just want them gone.

  • Try adding an empty Text widget to your sidebar(s).

Just add in the text code at your sidebar widgets and your ads should appear by then

    Thanks for the suggestions..

I updated the page and put a Text widget with no text. It now shows a little rectangle. It wouldn’t be so bad if the rectangle was white and matched that page but it’s a bluish color and looks silly. Any other ideas? I don’t know CSS or any coding. If I put text in it there is still a blue background in the text box. Is there a way to make that box white instead?

What you were seeing previously was the sidebar’s default content when no widgets have been added. What you are seeing now is the theme’s default widget/sidebar styling. The former you can remove by editing the theme’s sidebar template file(s). The latter – by editing the theme’s CSS. Try using Firefox with the Firebug add-on for this kind of work.

Thanks! I have FireBug now. I ended up just changing my theme to one that didn’t do it.
