Removing opacity fade

    Hello, WP.org. I’m new to WordPress and I’m already going crazy trying to figure out how to turn off the fade effect in Spun. I’d like it gone from everywhere except the footer and the comments icon.

    I read Ms. Moore’s clear instructions here:

    and dutifully created the child theme, then scoured the original style.css for all “opacity” properties, copying them into the child with new values of 1. However, only the #masthead is staying opaque. I even went so far as to copy the entire style.css over to the child and edit the opacity values there, fearing that my pidgin CSS was getting in the way, but still no luck.

    My site is at http://www.smallplates.org — just started setting it up today.

    I’m sure there’s some simple solution that evades me. Thanks in advance for the help!

    What you added originally with your child theme’s CSS was 100% correct. There’s no need to copy your entire style.css, this will just create unnecessary bloat.

    In regards to your problem: The fade effect on some of the elements of your site is being applied via changes to background-color as opposed to opacity in the CSS.

    To stop this effect on the circles on your homepage add the following to your child theme’s style.css:

    .hentry.no-thumbnail {
background: #444;
}

    Let me know if there’s any other elements on your site that you want to rid of this effect, and I’ll try to give you the CSS for them. 🙂

    slobhyb, thanks so much — that fixed the circles!

    I haven’t even really started playing with this theme yet, but the only other thing that I notice currently is the “[DATE] BY [AUTHOR NAME] / EDIT” footer on individual posts. When you hover over the text, it becomes completely opaque and the little speech bubble icon becomes partially so, while hovering over the speech bubble renders everything 100%. I’d love to have the text be solid all the time, and the speech bubble stay at the partial opacity (as it is currently when you hover over the text) until you hover over the bubble, at which point it becomes fully opaque. (No change in the bubble when you hover over the text.)

    To change this add the following to your child theme’s CSS:

    .entry-meta{
opacity: 1;
}

    Should work!
