Removing Parent Category from Permalink

Hello,

I need to remove the parent category from the permalinks on my site. I found this Forum thread: http://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/remove-parent-category-from-permalink but it does not work on my site since I’m using 3.0 for some reason. Instead it just gives my site errors. Does anyone have any ideas for how I can accomplish?
