Removing Theme Credits
-
This post is a last resort.
I’m using the Mantle theme in WP 4.1 and am having trouble removing the theme credits from the bottom of my page. I’ve read a ton of the forum posts about this topic (editing the footer.php file but making sure I have a child theme first etc. etc.) -I have no clue how to do that since my code is different from everyone else’s that posts about this topic.
How do I do this?
I’m pretty sure I have a child theme but am not sure about that either.
Apologies for being an idiot here but can someone lay this out step by step for me?

I dont know about the theme bit find footer.php file and search for the text you want to remove if you cant then search the functions.php file it will be somewhere in your theme. If u have a child theme then the directory “should” have ‘-child’ in the name.
I tried searching for the text in the footer.php and found nothing.
Actually, it seems that I can only find footer.php under “GeneratePress” which my theme, Mantle, is a child of. How would I find the correct footer.php to modify?
I don’t know what that means…
I don’t think I have a child theme now. How can I create one? Ughh, this has been so difficult.
I’ve found the footer.php but it’s for my parent theme.
How can I make a child theme with a footer.php? My current child theme doesn’t seem to have a footer.php file that I can edit. (but I can find the footer.php file for “GeneratePress” which seems to be my parent theme but I’ve read I shouldn’t touch it).
Hi Dean, please make sure you post on your theme’s support section: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/theme/mantle#postform
