Removing trailing slash

The W3C validator report this:

Trailing slash on void elements has no effect and interacts badly with unquoted attribute values.

Example:

<link rel="canonical" href="https://www.example.com/" />

So, would you remove the trailing slash (<xxx />) on an upcoming update?
