Yes, you can modify the translation file to change these titles:
Customizing the Text in Participants Database
Thanks, I actually already had Poedit installed on my computer. The only issue is when I rename the CPT by translating the source text string ‘Participiants Database’ to ‘Companies’ it also renames the plugin name to ‘Companies’ on the WordPress Plugins page. I don’t really want to rename that as it may cause confusion. Is there anyway around this?.
Not really, you’re changing the name of the plugin, and that will be reflected wherever it’s used.
I noticed after updating the plugin (or was it a WordPress update) the translated language files stopped working. However, after re-saving the settings in ‘Settings > General’ in the WordPress Dashboard the translated files worked again.
As per your guide I have my translated files in the /wp-content/languages/participants-database/ directory.
Any ideas or is this normal behaviour?
I’m not sure what went wrong there, and updates don’t generally affect settings, so I can only guess that perhaps there was a caching issue, and that saving the settings cleared the cache.
