When adding options to a select/checkbox/multiselect etc. custom field, it must be done through a list of comma separated values.

However…every time I need to update the labels on these, doing so removes all data associated with that field, ie. all listings that had that value checked, no longer does.

I assume this is expected behavior for a list of values, since the system recognizes it as a completely new value when changed…but man what a headache if every time I need to update a value, I have to manually select that again for all listings who had it before?

Surely there’s a way around this or a better way?
If not, is that something that can be included int he future? The separated list thing is kind of a headache to manage…

    Thanks!

  • Hello,

data that has been saved in a custom field will still remain in the field when you change options.

However, if you remove an option from the custom field option values settings, then proceed to edit a listing that had that option selected – because the option is now missing there is no way to save that option again. If the field is saved in a listing in that state then yes, the value will be removed because it is no longer selected.

In that case of changing values in the field option values settings, yes, it is important that any options you want saved in listings remain available as options in the custom field.
