repeating [..] on front page

    i’m having a problem with repeating paragraphs, along with the […]

    it only happens on the main page, not on the post’s page. (yes, i am very gifted with technical jargon if you hadn’t noticed) here’s an example:

    Don’t Stop for Gas in Mississipi

    Today I am going to Nashville for Olympic Qualifiers. Driving to Nashville to be more exact. Driving with three people I don’t really know all that well. Unless you count our friend Pittsburg. I know Pittsburg pretty well. He doesn’t really know me though. We met six years ago but he probably couldn’t tell you how old I am.

    That’s how it looks on the main page, and when I edit it, it’s fine and dandy. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Your theme may be using <?php the_excerpt();?> instead of <?php the_content();?> in its index,.php template file. Try editing the file and replacing <?php the_excerpt();?> with <?php the_content();?>.

    sorry, bit of a newb here. do i need to go into my ftp client to do this?

    Yes, you need to go into your ftp client, and open this:

    /wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME/index.php

    so i opened it, and it just says the file is a front to the WordPress application and doens’t do anything. am i opening the right file?

    do i need to go into my ftp client to do this?

    not necessarily – goto:
    dashboard – appearance – editor – select ‘main index template’ index.php from the list on the right

    so i did both of those, and i couldnt find anything. i’m using platform, maybe they don’t allow editing?
