Hope you can help me.
I’m trying to replicate the category listings on a WooCommerce product category page but using CPTUI & ACF.
I can build the category hierarchy within CPTUI & ACF and get links for the pages manually.
But what I’m struggling to do is build an archive page that shows the all categories only without any of the products and then when you click on the category link it take you to either a list of sub categories or shows the products (if no sub categories exist).
Here is the site I’m rebuilding which currently uses WooCommerce – https://www.promotionalfings.co.uk/promotional-products.
If you click into Badges for example you see the products as no sub category.
If you click into Clothing for example then you see the sub categories then if you clicked in the sub categories you’d see the clothing in that sub category.
This is all built dynamically inside WooCommerce.
Can this be replicated using CPTUI & ACF please?

I don’t see why it couldn’t, and there’s nothing inherently special needing done with CPTUI to do it. As long as we’re getting the content types registered, CPTUI’s job is done.

That said, looking at https://www.promotionalfings.co.uk/promotional-products/ that’s the post type archive for the products, and it looks like it’s outputting listings by product category. Then, clicking into any of them, leads to the product category archive, for example https://www.promotionalfings.co.uk/promotional-product/promotional-badges-medals/

So first link from me: product archive but not showing the products themselves, but instead links to archives from the “product category” taxonomy.

Second link is going to a product category archive that doesn’t have any child product category terms, so it just links to the products themselves with that product category.

Meanwhile, this one https://www.promotionalfings.co.uk/promotional-product/promotional-clothing/, as you said, has child product categories, so it just keeps proverbially drilling down into the nested product category term archives.
