Hello, I am using your plugin to notify an author of a new comment to their post. However, if an author replies to a posted comment, they are getting a notification of their own comment.

I see that ‘new comment’ and ‘new reply’ are notifications that we can select from, so I’m unsure why the ‘new reply’ is being triggered as a new comment.

    Thank you.

Sorry I figured this out. The “Do not send this Notification to the User that triggered it” option was hidden when I selected the option to send to author.

I do have another question though. Is there anyway to target the parent comment author with a shortcode? I am using your plugin to create a notification to a post author of a comment, and if the post author replies to a comment, to notify the parent comment author.

The notification works, but in the greeting, I have no way to address the email recipient by their name, as I am able to do with the post author name.

    Thank you.

    Hi @shemakeswebsites,
    Thanks for your message.

Glad you’re getting somewhere. These two notifications are somewhat limited by the functionality within WordPress. Whilst I’d like to provide more information here, such as what you’re asking for, WordPress is actually quite lacking in this area.

I’ll do some investigation though and anything I found it that might have changed since this notification was added, I’ll look to add to the roadmap.

    Thanks,
    Jack

Hi Jack, it looks like you’ve added the shortcodes…or I just missed them earlier.

Using [global_user_firstname] allows me to address the users in their email greetings. Thank you. 🙂
