Reporting -> Emails: Bounce Data Not Displaying

    Hi Gravity Forms Support Team,

    We’re currently reviewing the Reporting -> Emails section in our CRM Reporting dashboard. While we can see data populated under sections like Email Sent, Open Rate, and Click Thru Rate, the Bounces field is consistently showing no values, even though we expect that some messages should have bounced.

    Could you please clarify if this is a known issue, or if there are specific settings or configurations required to enable bounce tracking and reporting? We’re looking to ensure that bounced emails are being tracked correctly for reporting accuracy.

    Hi!

    If you meant to contact Gravity Forms support you should contact them through their official website. We are unaffiliated with Gravity Forms.

    Bounce tracking is only supported when using official API based SMTP integrations included in the Groundhogg PRO plan.

    Choose from…

    Any third party SMTP plugins will not report bounces to Groundhogg.

    there is a function that allows to add bounce mails:
    https://help.groundhogg.io/article/357-setting-up-email-bounce-handling

    So any SMTP plugin and an extra bounce mail will add bounce tracking in PRO plan.

    The response from the developer is a little bit confusing, since bounce handling is configurable without a PRO plan (thanks @subscribetech for pointing this out). I think there’s a difference between what is expected behavior and what is officially supported by the developer, though I’m not sure where the line actually is.

    An SMTP plugin, and more particularly the mail server configuration of a particular host, may interfere with the return path that Groundhogg sets in email headers, which is key to receiving and managing bounced messages. I believe, from my own experience, that bounce handling will function correctly with a mail sending scheme that allows (and does not interfere with) the Groundhogg plugin setting return path (aka envelope sender?) headers in mail.

    I do not use an SMTP plugin. I use sendmail via PHP (the default WordPress sending mechanism) on a server that is configured to allow it. Bounce handling appears to work for me. Adrian is probably right that this would not work with an SMTP plugin, though it depends on the plugin and the SMTP server.

    Sorry that was a typo – this is for Groundhogg.
    Mailgun is listed as supported however the missing integration for mailgun bounce reporting is an issue. Other options such as wooninja add ons dont actually cover the requirement of receiving bounce reports to the mailbox or to the GH reporting dashboard when mailgun is the sending service provider.
