• Since you mention on your site you appreciate suggestions, here’s mine:

My list of plugins is growing, and my website is getting older day by day. I have several plugins of which I wonder why I’ve installed them in the first place. And IF I recall, I’m not sure where (on what page) I’m using it. And that’s even for the plugins I installed myself.
Since I maintain a website with a team, it would be very practical to be able to add a note next to every plugin. So we all know why a plugin has been installed, and where we use it (for).

Perhaps a column could be added to http://example.nl/wp-admin/plugins.php ?

    Hi Miels,

    Thanks for the suggestion!

I really like the idea and I can definitly relate to to the scenario I can say 😉
Though it’d be a bit out of scope for the ‘dashboard’ note plugin..

Do you have any suggestions on how to incorporate that on the plugins page? I can’t think of a way where the type of notes as they currently are can be added…

I may check this out (tomorrow or so) to see what would be needed to create something (probably not in this plugin though).

    Thanks,

Hi Jeroen, “out of scope” was exactly what I was thinking, though it does serve about the same need. The comment on your page insprired me to request it anyway :). Glad I did. I do like my plugin page to be tidy, so thats 1 against a separate plugin for this request ;).

Regarding your question on how to incorporate it: I really don’t know what is possible with plugins. But like I said: it might be possible to add a column on the plugins.php page? So at the right hand side of the columns “plugin” and “description” a new column “notes” (with an icon like the bootstrap glyphicon-edit to edit the text in it).

    Hi Miels,

Gotcha! Not sure if adding a extra column is possible there, also would push things a bit too much together don’t you think?

Maybe a row below it (full width) if possible?

I was thinking a code snippet myself more, but still not sure how much I’d take.. (or when I would have time 😉

    Cheers,
    Jeroen

I’d prefer something that is visually linked to the specific plugin.

Perhaps an icon (like bootstrap icon-notes) right of the name of the plugin?

    • hover over it: shows the note
    • clicking on it: edits the note
    • grey icon: no note added yet
    • black icon: has note.

I’ll leave the rest of it in your capable hands. But please make sure to let me know (by a reply in this tread) if you’ve come up with something :D.

I’ll think about it and see if I can come up with something. I’m not making promises though 😉

    Have a good day,
