Required fields alerts

I’m creating a multi-page form and the required field alerts are displaying differently from page 1 to page 2. I’m using a combination of single line fields and drop down selects on both pages. On page 1, the required field alert is a line of text below the field that states “This value is required”. On page 2, if a required field is left blank, it displays a popup box with an arrow pointing to the empty field that states “Please fill out this field”. Is there a setting to select which style is used? I would just like them to appear consistent from page 1 to page 2.
