I Regenerated the images to 80% and now most of them look quite pixalated, unsharp and so on.
In any case. how can I reset the changed the Plugin made?
I tried deleting the plugin but the pictures look still horrible.

    Hello @noobor,

    Thanks for your message.

Provide the URL to your website? Is the plugin active now? Can you add screenshots to show what the problem is?

After deactivation, the plugin stops working. This means that the original images are loaded. In your case it is most likely the fault of some cache on the site or server that needs to be reset after disabling the plugin.

@noobor Thanks! What quality of converted images did you choose in plugin settings?

    First time: 80%
As soon as I realized the pictures looked very bad, I wanted to undo it. So I deactivated then deleted the Plugin.

After that the pcitures still looked like now (very low res). So I reinstalled WebP Converter for Media and regenerated the photos a second time with 90% quality.

    did not work…

by the way, the plugin worked great for making my page load faster 10/10 for that πŸ™‚

@noobor Do you use Gd or Imagick library? In the case of the Gd library, unfortunately, the quality of the converted images may be worse – this is due to the limitations of the PHP library.

If you want to maintain the highest quality of images and low weight, I recommend trying the AVIF format. It allows you to reduce the weight of images compared to WebP while maintaining a better quality of images.

I dont use Gd or Imagick lib. I have Perfect Images (Retina, Thumbnails, Replace). Anyway Is there a way to just undo the changes by webP Media converter? Like a reset?

@noobor The plugin does not modify the original files. No way. If you deactivate it, the original images will be loaded back.

@mateuszgbiorczyk I dont say it does. I just see that the pictures are still displayed in a very poor resolution after dectivating the plugin. :/

    anyway…

I restored a backup of my site and it works again with the “high res images” arround 300kb.

So I tried to use WebP again. This time the pictures are not compressed at all haha πŸ™‚ https://leonbreiter.com/portfolio/akrm/

I realy struggle to see what I am doing wrong.. any Ideas?

    Kind regards

“I just see that the pictures are still displayed in a very poor resolution after dectivating the plugin.”
When a plugin is deactivated, the rules are removed from the .htaccess file. Then the original files are loaded, which are not modified by the plugin. In this situation, the lower quality of the images is not my plugin’s fault. Have you used any additional image optimization tools?

I tested your browser by simulating a browser that does not support WebP and a browser that does not support WebP. Everything works very well:
    – the original images on this page weigh 1.2 MB
    – WebP images weigh only 0.25 MB
