My users have run into a problem with the reset password process on my site. When they request a password reset because they have forgotten their password they are successfully sent an email that contains the reset link. However, after clicking this link they are taken to the login page that displays the message “You’re unauthorised to view this page. Why don’t you Login and try again”. This cycle then repeats when trying again. See bottom for screenshots.

I have identified that the culprit is the WP Mail SMTP plugin (the process successfully works when the plugin is deactivated).

Please assist as soon as possible. I currently have no alternative for my users.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi there @jrske,

It sounds like there may be a conflict between WP Mail SMTP and another plugin on your site. The “Why don’t you login” message appears to be coming from some other plugin, and could be where the conflict is happening.

Try a reset again with and without WP Mail SMTP enabled, and note the URLs. What I suspect is something is different about the URL when our plugin gets activated. In our free version, the URLs shouldn’t be changed, as it doesn’t have the click tracking feature built-in (a feature of our Pro version). However, it appears that something may be changing the URLs. If you can try that and get back to us with the two URLs, that should help.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response David.

I have managed a fix. The link opening in the browser was not the same as the link in the email (appears to do with how the “&” is being coded in the email).

    Thanks again.

    Hey @jrske,

That’s great, I’m glad to hear you got that sorted! Thank you for taking the time to let us know.

If you run into any other trouble, just let us know! Have a great day! 🙂
