Right now they stay the width % they are at. They do adapt to devices though. This could be a future iteration, I would suggest though for true responsive – changing number of columns – maybe having a view and doing in a plugin is a good first start.
“Text columns” / “experimental columns” needs to be responsive.
Otherwise the “column block” is useless.
Try to make a 3 column block … and test it on a smartphone ….

yes, real responsiveness is vital for any column formatting. Hope it will come shortly. In 2.2 it isn’t.

Without responsiveness the columns are useless!
And another very important thing
There needs to be more flexibility in the width of the columns – as of now, the “width-optinos” is VERY limited :
1/2 + 1/2
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3
1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4
The columns flexibility should at least be:
1/2 + 1/2
1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3
1/3 + 2/3
2/3 + 1/3
1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4
1/4 + 1/2 + 1/4
1/2 + 1/4 + 1/4
1/4 + 1/4 + 1/2
1/4 + 1/2 + 1/4
1/4 + 3/4
3/4 + 1/4
