I have the same problem and the REST API isn’t disabled on the website. I’m getting this error (in the console):

I have the REST API available on my website. The message error appears when regenerate progress is at 34%.
Can you take a screenshot of Dev Tools in Chrome (select the given query and show the Response tab)?

@mateuszgbiorczyk, my debug.log / error.log is empty.
If you had an error: "The site is experiencing technical difficulties." then you must have an error in debug.log.
The debug.log is empty.
The error “The site is experiencing technical difficulties.” is only shown on the console.
Please show me this error.
In that case, you probably have a server configuration error.
WordPress always adds an entry to debug.log file with this error.
