Rest API New Order doesn’t trigger E-Mails

Hello,

i am using the WooCommerce REST API to create a new order. Then setting the status to pending. What i expect that WooCommerce is firing a e-mail to confirm the order and send one to the admin. But it doesn’t happen. Tried wp mail, smtp and now a external service “Mailersend” but i can’t get it to work.

I am looking forward to get some help.

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand that you are not receiving the Order Confirmation Email after the creation of a new order using REST API, correct?

Then setting the status to pending

If your new orders have the status Pending, no email would have been sent yet. Pending orders are orders where the customer selected Place Order but abandoned the payment page (depending on the payment gateway, i.e., PayPal) or had their credit card transaction declined. Only orders that are properly updating to Processing should generate an email.

Sorry, my fault. I was setting it to Processing. It doesn’t works.

Thanks for confirming that the order status is set to Processing, but still, the Order Confirmation Email is not being sent, is that correct?

Can you please check the troubleshooting techniques on this support documentation and see if this resolves your issue here?

Otherwise, I’d like to understand your site properly, please share your System Status Report that you can find via WooCommerce > Status. Select Get system report and then Copy for support. Once you’ve done that, you can paste it into your reply here.

If you could also provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

Yes it is set to processing but nothing fires. Only when orders are made in the WooCommerce store the mails are fired and if i change the status manually.

I’m not sure what is causing the issue but I’d like to make a suggestion. It would be easier to check if mails are sent by using a ‘mailing log’ plugin such as https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-mail-logging/

This way you can capture all emails that are being sent and you do not have to worry about whether the email has reached its destination. By checking the email log, you don’t need to worry about SMTP plugins. All emails that are sent would be captured.

I checked this via a similar plugin. Mails are not sent.

Thanks for sharing the System Status Report.

Can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce plugin is enabled and see if this works?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.
