Appreciate any help you can offer.

    Hi @wgmontrose

Please try with different browser in incognito mode.
Make sure you’re not using any VPNs at the time.

    Thank you!

Thanks, iClyde. I have tried using a different browser (Edge rather than my usual Firefox) in incognito mode and with VPN switched off. Unfortunately the restore still failed and a new code was generated: BMI-nyeRge5c-75648

    Any further advice much appreciated,

    William.

    Hi @wgmontrose

I am now aware of new issue around, we will work on solution to this problem soon to bypass this kind of error.

Our plugin initializes WordPress instance separately in this mode and if it encounter any errors it fails, we didn’t expect any errors in clean WordPress instance, but if core files are modified it fails, in this case seems like your WordPress files contain malicious code.

One or more (one was detected by our plugin), file(s) on your site is infected and does not seem to be original WordPress core file.

    Mentioned file(s):

    /home3/wjgbookr/public_html/wp-includes/rest-api/endpoints/class-wp-rest-plugins-controller.php

The best solution you can do is to remove all wp-admin and wp-includes directories and put latest WP files there https://ww.wp.xz.cn/latest.zip

You may also want to replace other files in root directory such as wp-login.php etc.

Once you resolve the issue our plugin should work properly, currently the virus file creates error that prevents our plugin from initializing WordPress.

Let me know if that resolves your issue 🙂
    Thank you!

Thanks iClyde for trying to help. Unfortunately I couldn’t get the HostGator CPanel to upload the files you suggested. It just didn’t seem to work whatever I did. Probably my ignorance.

Anyway, I got HostGator to reinstall WordPress on my site and I reinstalled the BackupBliss plugin, but now it says I have no backups to restore.

Time to give up and rebuild my website from scratch…

    Hi @wgmontrose

You can try to check with File Manager plugin e.g.: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/wp-file-manager/

If there is more than one directory named backup-migration-<some character> in your wp-content directory.

If HostGator reinstalled the site but kept the content files, your backup should be there, our plugin on configuration reset generates new directory.

If you find the directory it’s enough to adjust the name of the directory for backup storage in second section of our plugin, it will merge all files automatically.

Thanks iClyde for trying to help. Unfortunately there is only one backup-migration file in my wp-content directory, and that has only my most recent backup of the new version of my website in it, created today.

Sadly, it seems as though all my old content has been lost. I’m slowly reloading all 150+ posts into a recreated version of the web-site.
