I have tried several times to restore to a previous date but aster files are downloaded i get messages that the expected file is smaller that the actual one (for few KB). When I ignore it and try to restore I set the following message:

    Hi,

“Error message: Existing unremoved folders from a previous restore exist (please use the “Delete Old Directories” button to delete them before trying again): /var/www/vhosts/omnigen.gr/test.omnigen.gr/wp-content/updraft/plugins-old”

    – Before you do another restore, please click on the “Delete Old Directories” button to remove old files. You can also do this via FTP.

Hello, Thank you for your reply.
I deleted old directories via ftp and the restore seemed to continue, but next there was some problem:
    “Others
    Unpacking backup… (backup_2020-01-20-1423_testomnigengr_72aa9f762411-others.zip, 22.5 MB)
Unzip progress: 451 out of 451 files (51.9 MB, object-cache.php-old)
Move /var/www/vhosts/omnigen.gr/test.omnigen.gr/wp-content/languages -> /var/www/vhosts/omnigen.gr/test.omnigen.gr/wp-content/languages-old: Failed. Destination Directory UID=11690, GID=1003. Effective/real user IDs of the current process: 11690/11690. Effective/real group IDs of the current process: 1003/1003.
Error message: Could not move old files out of the way. You should check the file ownerships and permissions in your WordPress installation (/var/www/vhosts/omnigen.gr/test.omnigen.gr/wp-content/languages)
    Restore failed…”

Also is it normal that expected file is smaller that the actual one (for few KB)?
    Thanks again,

    Hi,

There appears to be a file permission issue, meaning UpdraftPlus or WordPress does not have the correct read or write permission to a certain folder or file.

The following article on Smashing Magazine is a good guide as to the file permissions/ownerships that are required for WordPress: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2014/05/proper-wordpress-filesystem-permissions-ownerships/#file-and-folder-ownership-for-wordpress

Also, check if there is more than enough dish space on your server as the same error appears when UpdraftPlus is not able to extract the zip files.

The size should be the same. If not, it could result in corrupted and missing files.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle
