This occurs when you have clicked it more than once. It’s a safety system which doesn’t allow you to use the same restore URL twice or more times.

No. That is not the case. I have also just created a new user, activated it and now tried to reset the password (clicking only once) and no joy). The same error.

Quite strange. Could you try by disabling other plugins? It’s maybe something interfering.

disabled all but your plugin and WP-Mail-SMTP. Still same error

Thanks sorted. My fault. Was working from firefox, when clicking on the link in the email to reset the password, it was opening in Safari. Thanks very much to Alberto for tracing the issue.
@alberto, why wouldn’t that work? Are you storing something in HttpSession?
