I have several wordpress sites and have installed wp backitup (free version) on all.

For some unknown reason about 1 month ago on one of these sites (ijustgottahavethat.com) I received the following

error message when I tried to login to wp

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ”http:/’ (T_ENCAPSED_AND_WHITESPACE) in

    /home/marketee/public_html/www.ijustgottahavethat.com/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4635

I have been advised by several sources to download the latest version of wordpress, extract the

wp-includes/functions.php and upload this to my cpanel overwriting the current wp-includes/functions.php

I have tried this but the error message still exists.

wp backitup has been automatically backing up this site and advising me of them by email. When I tried to download

these backups from the link given in the email I found that the Parsing Error stopped me accessing them Fortunately I

have located a backitup file in my cpanel for a time when I know the site was ok and have downloaded this in zip

    format to my desktop.

I would now like to restore my site using this zipped backup.

I have read your excellent article on Manual Restore but believe this to be beyond my levels of technical competence

so would be more than happy to purchase a Personal License .

Before I do this however can you please explain how I would use the 1 click restore button when the Parsing Error is

stopping me from logging in to this wordpress site.

Great question. The one click restore requires a working WordPress site to perform the restore. If you are unable to login to your site then I would suggest creating a new one where you can use your backups to restore the old site. We do not restore any of the wordpress core files so the functions.php file will not be restored.

Please make sure that you have all your backups downloaded before you attempt to create the new site. Some hosts may require you to remove the old one first but if you have your backups then you have all that is needed to restore your site to the new install.

Once the new site is available, install and activate WP BackItUp. Once activated you can upload your backups and perform the restore.

Hopefully this helps but if you have additional questions please feel free to post them here or contact WP BackItUp support using the following link: http://www.wpbackitup/support

    thanks
    Chris
