    Hi,

I had to restore a backup of my website from a few days ago, which obviously caused me to lose the access statistics for the last several days. Fortunately, I had exported the data just a few minutes before performing the operation. How can I restore that file?

    Thank you.

    Hi @ones71,

You can restore the export file by going to Settings > Koko Analytics > Data and use the Import Data functionality there.

Thank you for the fast reply. Which file type should I use? I have a series of CSV files exported from Koko Analytics but they don’t seem useful, or I could try to find a different file within a full database backup. However, I’m not sure what to look for or how to find it, as I am not very experienced with this.

    Hi @ones71,

The data import works with a .sql file as generated by the data export function on that same page. This is a back-up of all your statistics data, basically all the different database tables and their contents.

It sounds like you may have done a CSV Export instead? This is a different kind of export which only includes the data currently in view on your dashboard. I’m afraid it is not possible to import your historical data this way.

If you have a total site back-up (eg from your hosting provider, a lot of them offer daily backups by default) then we can also use this to reinstate your earlier Koko Analytics data. Just let me know if you have one and I’ll help you pull out just the Koko Analytics related database tables.

    Have a good weekend.

Hi, thanks again for your reply. Yes, you understood correctly: I exported the data to a CSV file, but fortunately, I also have a full backup of the blog dated April 9th. Here is the situation: on April 10th, I downloaded the backup from the 9th and then restored the site to the April 6th backup (I was forced to do this due to a technical issue).

Because of this, I have the statistics up until the 6th, and they resume from the 10th, but I have a gap for the 7th, 8th, and 9th. I would like to take the statistics I have through the 9th and replace the ones currently in Koko, merging them with the data from the 10th onwards. Is this possible? Could you help me with this? Thanks.

    Hi Marco,

This may require some manual labor on my side, but since you are a paying customer for Koko Analytics Pro I would like to help you out and make this possible.

Could you please send me the following two files:
    – A new data export for your current statistics (with the gap) from the Koko Analytics > Settings > Data page.
    – The database back-up file from April 9.

This way I have everything exactly as you have it and I can either extract just the gap or alternatively, build the tooling for this so that you can do an import while ignoring any dates which already have data.

You can send the files to [email protected].

If you want, you can modify the back-up file to exclude any tables except for the Koko Analytics database tables, but know that I will handle the file with care nonetheless.

    Best,
    Danny
