Hi,

I want users to be able to see the homepage, but when they take any action such as clicking a main menu item or a button, it will ask for their password and redirect them to another page when submitted.

Also, if possible, I have a search bar on the home page. It shows results of the items as your search, and then you can click on the item. is it possible to see the results, but in order for the person to click the item and visit that page they are also restricted as said above?

Do you want the login form to appear in a pop up box? Unfortunately that is currently not supported out of the box. On click, you could redirect to another page, and when the user enters his login credentials, he will be redirected to the restricted content.

To make logged-out users only capable of accessing the front page, create 2 Access Level like this:

1.
Title: Logged-out Level
Conditions: Front Page
Members: Sync with Logged-out Users

2.
Title: Logged-in Level
Conditions: NOT Front Page
Members: Sync with Logged-in Users
Extend: Logged-out Level

Basically these levels say that all pages but the front page will become inaccessible to logged-out users.
