Your plugin does not add anything to the .htaccess file for the OpenLiteSpeed web server. I have tested your plugin on staging, GCP, server installed with the xcloud.host panel. This is likely the main reason why images on the homepage are not being served in the AVIF format.

We did some further tests on OpenLiteSpeed and found that restarting the server service can resolve the issue. Here is the command for restarting the service:

sudo service lsws restart

Btw, please kindly note that the .htaccess file we’ve been referring to is the one located in the wp-content folder, not the one in the website root directory. Please make sure to check the right .htaccess file.

Additionally, if your site is hosted on an OpenLiteSpeed server, it’s recommended to restart the server using the following commands:

An update:

We’ve released a new version of the plugin 0.9.7 where we have added a check to OpenLiteSpeed server, so on a OpenLiteSpeed server, users will be notified to restart OpenLiteSpeed service to put CompressX rewrite rules effective.

Please update the plugin and let us know if you still have any issues using the plugin.

I received two warnings:
