Hi @sorenf
Could you check if you are using the latest version of Yoast Duplicate Post v4.1.2? And could you check if you are using the ‘rewrite & republish’ feature for a standard post or page, or is it a custom post type of sorts?
We do know that if you use the ‘rewrite & republish’ feature, it should create a new draft and when you click on ‘republish’ it should merge with the original post under the original URL (and not the -2 at the end).
Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.
Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.
If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts
Could you check if this issue with the ‘rewrite & republish’ feature still occurs with a default site with a default WP theme (such as TwentyTwenty) and only Yoast Duplicate Post as the plugin enabled?
Same issue here, I can’t rewrite and republish any post without the “-2” post suffix. I’m using Oxygen Builder with Rank Math SEO. Any workaround?
It doesn’t work only when I schedule the republish. If I republish it right now, it works replacing URL and everything.
I’m using Yoast Duplicate Post 4.1.2 and all other plugins are up to date.
Hi @luca1996o
We are sorry you’re having a similar issue. Please open a new request. That way it’s easier to track issues and provide assistance. Thanks!
We also recommend that you perform a conflict check and see if this occurs with a default setup with a WP theme such as TwentyTwenty and only Yoast Duplicate Post as the plugin (and then enable the plugins and themes one by one until you are able to reproduce the issue)
