rewrite rules not working

    When I activate this plugin and try to change and hide wp-content, nothing happens. I can still visit the wp-content url and the new url that I enter to replace it just returns a 404 page. I’m running this on a developement site locally with MAMP. PHP version is set to 7.1.1. I can see that changes are being made to the .htaccess file but they don’t seem to be doing anything. I’m doing this testing in a logged-out private browser window.
