Roles not working

I have installed events calendar and the members plugin as I want to allow 2 or 3 people access to the calendar. I have created a role and given access to all the events calendar options. Howver, when i login to one of the user accounts i still cannot edit the calendar. The link at the top of the page to edit justy brings me back to the homepage. I can browse the calendar as normal but not edit it.
