Rookie needs image grid

I’m fumbling my way through learning WP & trying to figure out how to add multiple images in one page on the visual page (rather than coding text). Something like a grid in which multiple images can be inserted would be helpful like this: http://engineering.vanderbilt.edu/design-day/sponsors.php

Or even just a way to type some text, add an image underneath, repeat.

I know this the most basic problem, so thanks for your help. Like so many beginners, I’ve gotten roped into helping maintain a site and learning as I go.

It is using the Chameleon theme from Elegant Themes. I’ve tried changing the template to a Gallery or Portfolio page, but can’t figure out how to create a gallery & get the images in the page.
