root folder

hello fellows, so i’m trying to find the root folder of my website on the server, but either from my control panel on the server or making an FTP connection using filezilla, all i see is folders of wordpress, and i don’t know where the root folder of my website is, for example if i want to add anything to http://www.mywebsiteexample.com/myuploadhere i don’t know where to put it, i am trying to specifically add a file to the root of the website so google can recognize ownership
