Rotating Banner

I want to add a rotating banner to my secondary widget area (ie. the right-hand sidebar). A couple of jpgs in a slideshow, with each leading to a different URL when clicked. I tried several plugins, but none of them seem to work with either WP 3.1.3, the Weaver theme or my limited set of coding skills.

I tried Banner Slider (http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/banner-slider/), Datafeedr Ads, and wpads (http://thesandbox.wordpress.com/wpads/).

Banner Slider seemed just what I was looking for. But no matter where I put the template code or the widget shortcode – no result. (if you look at the site, there’s a widget titled ‘banner slider’, only the banners don’t show up. the slideshow below is a gif file I put up as a stopgap).

Any idea what I’m doing wrong? Or any other plugin I should go for?
