• Hi,

This is my first time using WordPress, and I’m having a couple small problems with the installation. I have a domain at Godaddy.com, but I’m not really sure about how to setup the MySQL info.

I did create a database, but I was asked the name for the Database, and the Username for the Database during the same process. I created a password aswell.

I opened up the wp-config file, and put in all the correct info. I triple checked it all, and I’m still getting this:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

I’ve tried everything I can find on the site, and I don’t know what else to do! Are there any other suggestions out there? Or does anyone else host on Godaddy, maybe they know more about setting it up?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi there

Make sure that your mysql socket is running in the proper path. (/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock)

    Cheeers

godaddy does not use localhost; if you are using it, you need to get the actual hostname and use that instead.

Ignore auwa’s comment also, thats not something you need to worry about on godaddy.

    (3 month old thread; great)

Do you know if startlogic/vDeck use localhost

If you are on the new platform (Vdeck 2.0) Startlogic is not anymore using ‘localhost’. Now it’s ‘yourdomain.startlogicmysql.com’
