RSS most recent post from wordpress.com site

Anyone have any great tips for pull the one most recent post from a wordpress.com site to be posted on a ww.wp.xz.cn site I’m desiging.

Its basically in one spot on the page. I’ve tried magpie RSS… anything else out there do the job?

I need to pull the permalink, the date, the title and a featured image from the given post.
