• Rudest support, buggy plugin, no “premium support” on purchased product, default installation has NO security at all (God help anyone not familiar with .htaccess files etc.).

    Just bad all ’round.

If I had not committed so much time to begging for features, fixing bugs myself, and promising my client that we’d deliver “real soon now”, and if there was any working alternative, I would have run, fast, months ago.

    AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

    Hi,

default installation has NO security at all

The documentation has a page dedicated to securing the files and that document is also mentionned in our getting started tutorial.

As you see there, you don’t need any knowledge about .htaccess files, you can also simply locate the files in another directory of your server.

    no “premium support”

No, we clearly mention in our terms and conditions that support is provided in the same way for everyone (paid customer or not) AND provided as much as we can. There is no concept of VIP/Premium support yet.

    begging for features

We just cannot implement all features that are requested by each and everyone. First of all because not all make sense in broad product (some features you had requested made sense for your client but not a lot of other users), and second because even when they make sense, we simply don’t have the time to implement them all.

That said, if you remember correctly, one important feature you needed had been implemented rather fast (added functions to programmatically add private files).

    Rudest support

I did not mean being rude, but really, sometimes, when someone thinks that everything is due to him because he spent 20€ or 40€ on something makes me wanna quit development.

Do you really go back to your local store saying that your TV cannot prepare coffee and that if that is not corrected within a month or two you’ll be really angry at them?

    buggy plugin

Looking at the github repository, you have reported 29 issues:

    – 15 bugs have been fixed
    – 3 feature requests have been implemented
    – 5 bugs are yet open
    – 6 feature requests are still pending

The plugin is missing features, of course, because everyone has particular needs. And we try to improve on that every day since version 1.0 (2 years back).

The plugin has bugs, of course, because that’s software. Hell, WordPress, Windows, Linux, even NASA software have bugs. We don’t pretend to be better than them, but we do our best to fix them with the resources we have.

I am sorry the plugin does not meet your needs, I hope you’ll find something that works better for you. I apologize if you felt offended when I have been rude, but I have felt the same with your very pushy messages. I appreciated your bug reports and feature requests as they have helped improving the plugin.

    Regards,

    Vincent

I’m just going to let this stand on its own, for now.

I’m guessing that it’s just a cultural issue where, you’re rude, I try to be nice, then you finally push me over the edge.

Then I’m rude, and you work to make amends since, at this point, you’re so clearly wrong that something has to be done.

No idea if that’s right, but that’s what it looks like from here.

Another mystery that maybe I’ll solve when we actually finish our French lessons (so we don’t look like complete morons) and go on our vacation to France…

    Steve
