    Hey there,

I am running into issues with a files and database backup where it the backup is unable to transfer to Amazon S3.

Here is snippet of the error from the log:

ERROR: S3 Service API: Invalid resource type
    [02-Jul-2014 16:56:04] 5. Trying to send backup file to S3 Service …
[02-Jul-2014 16:56:04] WARNING: fopen(/(deleted for clients security) /public_html/wp-content/uploads/backwpup-4ba7d3-temp/vanrecital_files_4ba7d3_2014-07-02_16-22-09.tar.gz): failed to open stream: No such file or directory
[02-Jul-2014 16:56:04] WARNING: fseek() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given
[02-Jul-2014 16:56:05] WARNING: feof() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given
[02-Jul-2014 16:56:06] WARNING: fread() expects parameter 1 to be resource, boolean given
[02-Jul-2014 16:56:07] ERROR: S3 Service API: Invalid resource type

The amazon credentials work with just a database backup. This error only appears when trying to do a files and database backup.

I have a feeling it might be something server side, the host this site is on mentioned there is a firewall, but I am unsure if that is relevant or not.
If it is something with the port, the host just want to know if there is specific port needed for S3.

    Thanks

  • Hey there,

I’m getting the exact same error. Any luck with finding a solution?

    Thanks

    Hey Jonathan,

The site ended up being moved different to a hosting solution and the issue seemed to disappear. I could quite narrow down the where exactly the issue was coming from, but it seems it was something with the host.

Wish I had more info to pass on.
