    Hello,

I seem to be having issues with the free plugin working on Safari. It works fine in Chrome, and works fine on Mobile Safari actually…

On desktop safari, the issue are:

    • Defaults to Arabic in the dropdown selector, even when set to English and Arabis isn’t selected.
    • Selecting any other languages doesn’t alter the site text, it stays in English.
    • Changing the order of the languages doesn’t have any affect

I’ve tried this on two separate Macs running Safari, I’m on Version 18.6 (20621.3.11.11.3).

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated…

    Hi,

Sorry, I do not have the ability to test with the specified version at the moment.

I would recommend you to check the browser console to see if there are any errors which might hint what the issue is. Also, make sure the HTML source code is the same when you open your website with Safari and another browser.

    Thanks! 🙂

    Hi,

Thank you for replying so quickly 🙂 Actually in the console it seems it isn’t loading something:

[Error] Failed to load https://www.google.com/sorry/index?continue=https://translate.google.com/translate_a/element.js%3Fcb%3DgoogleTranslateElementInit2&q=EhAqCbrCNlQOvgAAAAABeAB8GKLG58QGIjCwHVxoWzM2_qKG-90gUvHaklKw0Kmj4gi1rDmFxDd67W5k4VrDGbAOxUKFs8Cy-74yAnJSWgFD resource: the server responded with a status of 429 () (index, line 0).

I also tried disabling all other plugins, apart from the translate one and I still get the same console error…

So, that seems to be the issue, however Im not sure whats causing it… Is there any other diagnostic data I could send you to help?

    Thanks again!

    Hi,

429 error is a rate limiting error, I believe Google is limiting your network from accessing the translation library.

You may avoid that by using our paid version, since it doesn’t depend on 3rd party libraries.

    Thanks! 🙂

My personal Wifi network? or my Host? As it’s also not working on my clients side…

Also, would there be a reason it works fine in Chrome?

Would there nee specific reasons why Google would be limiting my network?

    Thanks

Your wifi network. I do not know about their rules and how they decide who should be blocked. Possibly they combine the IP address with the user agent (browser). Unfortunately I cannot provide any details about it. When you visit the link you have provided, it has some details:

Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later.

    Thanks! 🙂

Ok so it’s my Wifi network AND my clients Wifi network… ok thanks for your help, I’ll float the options by my client and see if they want to upgrade to the paid version.
