Same or Different Than Client Download Plugin

Hi. I am wondering what the difference is between these two plugins:
Download Manager
Client Download Zone (New)
I know that the first one is a free version here for WP, but will they both allow me provide files to individual users? Ex: providing the grade of homework to each student that wont be accessed by all members, just each specific student.

I did just read the description again – is this similar to the function of github?
