Your post is very confusing — which is probably why it’s not been answered in almost 9 hours even though the queue is otherwise empty.
I have a question. When I publish a post, depending on the tags I use, will show up in multiple categories.
Is this happening on your site that you’re trying to stop?
Or is this something you’re trying to implement?
I know how to get the category id, but I can’t remember where I go to put that id # so based on the tag, won’t show up in the rest of the categories. Can someone please help?
WordPress doesn’t have a feature like that.
If you did this previously, then the feature came from a plugin you used… and no one here can tell you where to go without knowing the plugin in question.
But I’m curious: if you’re in the editor publishing a post and adding tags and whatnot, what’s the big issue with simply checking the box(es) to select the appropriate category/categories for the post?
Hi George,
I apologize for being confusing as that was not my intent. I have one site where I did actually put in the category id numbers without a plugin. My site is a gaming site, so if I wrote something about Quest 3, that post would appear in the Quest 3 category.
A new site I am trying to build, I bought a theme, however, I tried making two different posts, and those posts are not appearing either on a page or in the different categories. So I am trying to figure out, with the 2nd site, how to when I post something that would be like for PlayStation, it would appear just in the PlayStation category for example.
