Save and Close Button/Action??

Hi All,

Does anybody know how to get a “save & close” or “save & return” button/feature in the edit pages/posts/custom posts screens? (as well as an update button)

Currently, WordPress only has an “update” button when editing a page/post etc. This can be very problemtatic in a number of cases

1. Editor is inexpereinced and edits a page and then doesn’t know how to get back to the “pages” list area.

2. Everytime an “update” is performed and the edit screen is returned to, the possiblity of “autosave” posts is incremented. This means many autosaves are unneccessary ie the page is idle.

In a lot of cases all that is wanted is a quick edit and return back to the “pages/posts” list page to continue editing other pages/posts.

Am I the only one who finds this behaviour frustrating? I cant seem to find any info on it.

I am looking for a plugin/functions.php solution ie avoid hacking core files.

Any ideas?
