• We are converting network sites in a multisite as independent woocommerce shops (local grocery stores). Multivendor does not work for our use-case.

We envisage that there might be thousands of such network sites. Right now, we are hosting this multisite on a single AWS Lightsail instance. Once the data grows, this architecture is unscalable.

WordPress.com claims to have 500million tables. How are they able to manage this feat? I can imagine that they are not hosting this all on a single physical server.

I am a tech novice, but am curious to know pointers to the amazing feat by WordPress.com, can you please help?

  • Are you expecting 500 million tables? It seems like multisite might not be able to hold up as well, and you will have to create independent instances instead.
