• Looking on GT METRIX..

…is resized in HTML or CSS from 752×462 to 354×217. Serving a scaled image could save 243.6KiB (77% reduction).

Does this mean I need to resize to 752×462 or 354×217?

    Also..

Does ” Losslessly compressing ” mean save it as a lossles format?? Which would be?? As JPG is lossless isn’t it?

I was optimizing my site and I bumped into the same “Serving Scaled Images” issue. I found this article and it worked pretty well for me, this might help:

    Thanks @jedallister That has helped.

Now my issue is “” Losslessly compressing “”

JOG vs PNG… I am under the assumption that I should have used JPGS, but most of my images are PNG.. But they are mostly under 100kb, some even as low as 50kb…

On GTMETRIX, under ‘OTIMIZE IMAGES’, there’s maybe 8 points telling me to losslesly compress, but tehy are lossy, meaning jopg or png, by saying losslesy compressing it means don’t compress it??

    I am confused here..

I have PNGs on my site as well and I don’t see it as an issue. I used a plugin to optimize my site images using JCH Optimize: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/jch-optimize/

It somewhat does the job in improving your overall GT Metrix scores plus I have CloudFlare CDN enabled on my site. It’s a basic landing page though.

I found a culprit, it was the main logo used on the home page and throughout the site. It kept popping up and no matter how many times I changed the original it still caused issued. Made a new PNG logo and inserted it and now my load speed is consistently 5.1 to 5.9 seconds… And page speed % is 89% – up from 70%…

Next is Defer parsing, but I will make a new post on that..

Still need to understand why it’s asking me to losslesly compress, I don’t get that? I thought we had to lossy images so they are light?

I have just tried GT METRIX again, and now it’s saying load time is 11.9 seconds?!??!?!?

    What is going on here?

And on Google’s page speed insights only scoring 11 out of 100???

What is going on here… I should have just used shopify!!

And on PINGDOM, it says 3.4 seconds, but page size is 4.4mb, but on GT METRIX it’s only 1.4mb..

    I am confused!!

edit – now gt metrix is saying 19.3 seconds load time… what is going on?!
