    Hi Guys,

I’ve issues with 2 website, stored on different servers that are facing issues with the ‘Scan Failed’ message.

I’ve re-installed the plugin and deleted all old-data.
I’ve increased the PHP limit and executing time
I’ve tried all different suggestions in the performance section based on your YouTube instruction video.
I’ve tried a different PHP version
I’ve tried the diagnostics option within the Wordfence ‘tools’ section.
    Created a new .Htaccess file
Excluded some paths to see if a smaller scan would fix the issue.

But so far no luck. The scan just stops after +-45000 files. The server status and file changes boxes are checked, but it doesn’t continue to the malware scan.

Any thoughts on how to proceed?

    Thanks!

    Erik

    Hi @donkeyboy33

Have you tried starting scans remotely from the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Debugging Options section? Does the exact same issue occur? There are other scan troubleshooting tips here: https://www.wordfence.com/help/scan/troubleshooting/

If nothing that I’ve suggested there works and you’re on Cloudflare or Litespeed, there can be other configuration requirements to prevent scans from stopping but the best way for me to determine this would be getting a scan log and diagnostic report from you.

If you could do the following steps for me:

    • Go to the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page
    • In the “Debugging Options” section check the circle “Enable debugging mode”
    • Click to “Save Changes”.
    • CANCEL any current scan and start a NEW scan
    • Copy the last 20 lines from the Log (click the “Show Log” link) or so of the activity log once the scan finishes and paste them in this post.

Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostic > Debugging Screenshot

This will help me see exactly what is happening when the scan fails.

Then, can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

NOTE: It should look as follows – Screenshot of Tools > Diagnostic > Send by Email

    Thanks,

    Hi Margaret,

    Thank you for your reply.
I’ve already enabled the diagnostics, but nothing is showing, it just stops running at a certain point, see screenshot.

Scanning remote results in a direct error:

I’ve sended the diagnostics repot via tools > diagnostics including my username and ticketnumber.

Hope this gives you some new insights.

    Thanks.

    Hi @donkeyboy33,

Thank you for following up.  Please disable the Remote scanning option located in Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Debugging Options.  Once that’s disabled, please try running a Standard Scan in Wordfence > Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling > Basic Scan Type Options.  Please also test running a scan with Use only IPv4 to start scans enabled, which is located in Wordfence > Scan > Scan Options and Scheduling > Advanced Scan Options.

From the diagnostics you sent, we are also seeing a couple of larger log files under Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Log Files.  Please make a local backup of those if needed and remove them from the server before running the scan again.

    Thanks,
    Margaret
