scan never stops and progress bar is empty

    I have just downloaded fresh version 1.5.3.4 of the plugin.
    When I click Start Scan I get the following page

    Scan Name
    Scan name: scan_2015-01-07_118621ff
    Enter the name of a previous scan to continue scanning

    Auto Scan Manual Scan

    I press Auto Scan and get the following screen:

    Scanning http://localhost?P3_NOCACHE=sNmpvcTz
    <empty scrollbar here>
    Stop Scan

    It never changes. I press Stop Scan and get the following screen:

    Scanning is paused.
    <empty scrollbar here>
    Resume View Results

    I press View Results and get detailed results. The number of visits varies, 21 or 5.

    What is going on? Can I rely on these results, and how much time do I need to wait for it to finish?

    Using Firefox 34.0 on Ubuntu 12.04.

    It looks like you’re loading your admin over https and your content over http. This is probably what’s causing the conflict. Do you see any mixed content warnings or errors in your browser console?

    I would suggest trying to set up your site to use either all HTTP or all HTTPS before using P3.

    Thanks, Kurt, for your suggestion.
    However, I do not see what is the point of testing the system in a configuration that I do not want to leave. (And I do not like to have my admin unsecured.)
    Maybe you can answer the following question:
    In fact, P3 profiler works on my site but never stops by itself. I can stop it myself and see the results.
    Are they reliable?

    Why not have your entire site secured?

    Maybe you can answer the following question:
    In fact, P3 profiler works on my site but never stops by itself. I can stop it myself and see the results.
    Are they reliable?

    The results should be reliable. Please see the “Advanced Metrics” tab and look for the margin of error (should be small) and the number of visits (should be 10-20).

    I am on a shared hosting and making my entire site secured would require me to buy a dedicated IP, an SSL certificate and pay the hosting service for installing it.

    The results should be reliable. Please see the “Advanced Metrics” tab and look for the margin of error (should be small) and the number of visits (should be 10-20).

    Thanks for clarifying it. That’s enough for my purposes. The number of visits I get, is proportional to time so if I wait long enough, I get enough of them.
