Scheduled/”future” post role?

    I can’t find anything in Core or plugin support to indicate what cap(s) are preventing me from creating a role that would allow the assigned user to preview a Scheduled post. To be clear, this is not a Draft post; its status is Published but for a future date (so, technically, its status is Future according to the docs I can decipher).

    I’ve already granted the following Caps:
    – Read
    – Read Private Posts
    – Read Private Pages
    – read_private_blocks

    All other Caps have been set to Deny.

    WordPress doesn’t actually have any “read” caps for the future post status. It’s possible someone could build a plugin to allow this though.

    What it falls back to is the edit_post meta cap, which gets mapped to the following capabilities:

    – edit_posts
    – edit_published_posts
    – edit_others_posts (not needed if the user is the post author)
