Themes do take some time to setup, however, I will be happy to help with the steps.

Can you provide me a link to your site so that I can see the steps you’ve completed so far? I can guide you from there.

In general, the first step with Argent is to assign the Front Page template to the page you wish to be a new home page. Broken down steps to do that are as follows:

• Publish or edit a new page.
• Look for the Page Attributes module to the right of your page’s editor. If you can’t find it, select the Screen Options tab in the upper right and then check the option next to Page Attributes to get the module to display.
• Select Front Page from the Template dropdown menu in the Page Attributes module.
• Save your changes.

After you have assigned the correct page template to your home page, navigate to Appearance > Customize. You will reach a tool known as the Customizer from which you can make a lot of changes to the way your theme looks.

Navigate to the Static Front Page panel of the Customizer. You will need to select the option to display A static page and then select your home page from the Front page dropdown menu.

After you have your home page setup with the correct template you can then add portfolio items, which will display on the home page. (Please note that you will need to install Jetpack and activate its Custom Content Types module in order to enable the option of adding portfolio items in your dashboard.)
