scroll speed varies by browser

    before my upgrade to WP 5.6 and before a recent News Ticker update, my scrolling ticker set at 10 worked fine and was uniform across Chrome, Firefox (two versions) and Edge — on WP 5.5.xx and a recent Ditty version.

    … but now, after doing multiple updates to get everything current (latest WP and latest Ditty plugin), on my newer Firefox the scroll is quite slow, yet on an older Firefox its at the original speed, and on Chrome and Edge its too fast !!

    so … not sure if its a jquery update, a Ditty update, or a browser issue … I did restore a very old backup of my site to an internal test server and with multiple items in that environment being older (WP 5.2.2, Ditty 2.2.2), all browsers display the scroll at the exact same speed.

    thoughts anyone?

    and there is always a chance I am being way to picky 🙂

    I checked out your site on multiple browser but I’m not seeing a visible difference in speeds. With Ditty News Ticker 2.3 I did rework the scrolling functionality to deal with WP 5.6 jQuery updates and to increase performance while scrolling. There may be a slight difference in speeds between Ditty < 2.3 and the current versions due to the change in programming.

    Is is possible one of your browsers was showing a cached version of the page that wasn’t running the latest version of Ditty?

    Please update to the latest version of Ditty News Ticker and see if the issue is better. It is possible there still may be some slight differences due to screen refresh rates of different devices and browsers

    THANK YOU ….. Yes it is much better now with version 2.3.5

    … much more uniform across my test browsers !!
