Hi!
It sounds like a plugin may be trying to be sneaky and playing hide and seek with content.
Try deactivating all your plugins to see if you can get the shortcode to at least display on the pages. If that shortcode does not show try switching to a bundled theme like Twenty Sixteen.
Hi Jose,
Many thanks for your response.
I just wondered if there is anything I need to consider before deactivating all plug ins and if there are any implications to the site?
Just to confirm, I deactivate all plugins and click apply. And then go to the page with the shortcode problem, and preview the page? If the shortcode does show, I then reactive them all? If not, I’ll install Twenty Sixteen as you suggest.
When you say try switching to a bundle theme like Twenty Sixteen, does this mean I should already have a similar theme installed? Sorry I only took over this site quite recently and still wrapping my head around it.
Thank you so much,
Laura
Hi Jose,
I also noticed in the ‘view’section at the bottom of the editor, I have a number of ‘views’ for scrolls set up. So I went to ‘edit view’ and can see the settings for the missing scroll that I refer to above. I am wondering if there is something in this setup that is incorrect? I don’t fully understand this set up to be honest. I don’t know what pagination means or what setting that needs to be on. And then filter, loop out, templates for view, filter and loop out integration. Should I maybe be doing something with this code perhaps?
Sorry for my vague questions – I don’t quite understand this section of the editor.
Thank you,
Laura

Everything will be fine. The only thing that does is prevent the plugin code from running. The worse thing that can happen is you’ll be to see all the shortcodes as [gallery] or whatever shortcodes you are using. If it doesn’t show those codes, it sounds like it could be theme related meaning the theme is doing something funky and not just a dance.
Thank you.
Could it have something to do with the fact that the editor says my WP Views plugin needs updating? The only thing is I work for a charity so I can’t pay to update it.
Is Twenty Sixteen a suitable alternative for WP Views?
The Google Maps on my website have all disappeared too. Is this related?
Shall I deactivate all my plugins and then reactivate? Will this sort out the issue? Google maps plug in says about creating a Javascript API but I really don’t understand what this means.
Thank you so much,
Laura

A quick search for wp views tells me that is a plugin not a theme.
Yes, the google maps is related to deactivating plugins. As I mentioned if you deactivate plugins, their respective functionality ( or even content ) will not show up. It is not lost though as it still resides in your database. So once you reactivate the plugin it will show back up again. 🙂
Are you able to provide a link to the site?
Hi Jose,
Yes. Here is one of the pages where the issue is quite prominent. http://naankuse.com/sites/naankuse-wildlife-sanctuary/ Both the Google maps here and the Views are not visible anymore (if you scroll down to where it says Projects, Animals and Courses – you will see the content is no longer there).
Shall I deactivate all plug ins, see if the shortcode comes up, and then if not, install Twenty Sixteen?
Thank you!
Laura
Hi Laura,
Taking a look at the site at the moment I do see some content but it behaves like the slider a bit.
I do currently see the map, wanted to see if you are still experiencing this or if you were able to get it sorted out?
